Being able to dress down gives the illusion it’s already the weekend. If you get the go-ahead from your boss, make jeans the office uniform for one day during the week. You’ll be surprised how much more relaxed you feel in comfy clothing instead of being trussed up like a chicken.
Pie day Friday
Everyone knows Friday is pie day. It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in a good ol’ Aussie meat pie. Forget the calories because everyone knows on a Friday they don’t count. So what if it’s only Monday morning? Get yourself a pie for breakfast. If you find yourself in Dubbo, NSW, head on down to the famous Village Bakery Café -- their award-winning pies make the trip there worthwhile.
It’s practically a tradition to head to the pub for a counter meal on Friday -- a couple of schooners with some good hearty tucker, a few laughs with the workmates and a slightly longer lunch because you lost track of time. Don’t restrict yourself to Fridays and invite the boss -- if you’re late back to work you won’t get in trouble.
Beat the 3 p.m. slump with a pig out on your favourite chocolate bars. In fact, don’t settle for a bar, go for a block! Mmmm! The Cadbury Snack block is an easy way to help the afternoon fly by with it’s delicious flavoured fondants, including strawberry, pineapple, orange, coconut ice, Turkish delight and caramel.
Why wait until Friday for after work drinkies? Organise to hit the pub with a few mates on a weeknight. There’s nothing like unwinding in the company of friends with a good bottle of wine or a few calorie-packed cocktails. Or if your boss is partial to a good drop of wine, suggest an office shout kicking off well before knock-off time.
Chicks at the flicks
Whether you’re home alone or have a few girlfriends over, a mid-week movie night can make it feel a little more Friday-ish. Head down to your local DVD store, grab a chick flick and heaps of pig out food and settle in for a night in front of the telly.
