"Go a shade darker to take your day look to a whole new level," says makeup artist Susmta Patel. "This applies for both your lips and eyes. Take it up a notch and try a smoky eye for an evening out with friends. Take your favorite light shade used during the day and combine it with a dark shade for a night out. Apply the lighter color to your entire lid, use the darker shade above your crease, and blend the two together with a blend brush. Top it off with mascara and voila."
Add some shimmer.
"Want a glowing effect for the evening? You have your makeup on already. Apply a shimmery shade of blush to your cheekbones to achieve the perfect glowing evening look," suggests Patel. "Steer clear of mascara if you have already applied it in the a.m. to avoid messy clumped lashes."
Do your 'do.
"Throw a comb in your purse and tease your roots to shape and contour your hair for the night. Try parting your hair differently to switch the look. If your hair is tied up, let it loose!" says Patel.
Celebrity hairstylist and RUSK Artistic Director Naz Kupelian also offers some terrific tips for your hair.
"If you know you are going out after a long day at the office, prepare your hair for a night out," says Kupelian. "Blowdry and flat-iron the night before or in the morning. Before heading out from the office, use some dry shampoo in the roots for some volume and to refresh your hair! If you have a travel-size flat iron, you can gently touch up your look by going over the hair with a few passes. Also, a loose bun will give you some wave in the hair at the end of the day. It's all about preparation! Turn it into tighter bun or turn it into a loose, trendy full or partial braid for the night out."
"For a hot date night out on the town, a summer wedding or a beach party, you can never go wrong with a sophisticated bun,” says hairstylist Paul Labrecque. “Right now, I’m loving the romantic, loose styles that incorporate wavy or even braided pieces into a style that’s fit for a modern-day princess. It is so easy to take your everyday look of having hair down and loose, to creating a fabulous updo. The key to a flirty side chignon is looping in small sections, one at a time, and using bobby pins to secure them. Finish with a spray such as my Paul Labrecque Volume Finish All Day Holding Mist, and you’re good to go!"
